When Yue was nothing more than a child, the Wen family knew he was going to be the heir of the clan; even before he could speak, he was already familiar with water more than anything else and before he noticed, his special ability was fully grasped. For some people, the ability never showed itself before they were nine or ten years old, yet Yue was only five; to most of those "special humans" it took years to learn how to use it, yet Yue doesn't even remember when he understood all there was to it. For him it was like a game, the ability to manipulate water his best friend.

He never got to know, until he succeded to his predecessor, what being a Water master meant, for his clan. And he found out in the worst possible way.

Fang and Ru have been appointed as his bodyguards since he can remember, more or less. They treasure him so much that sometimes Yue wonders how it happened, considering that they know. 

His clan calls it a gift, but Yue really isn't too sure about it anymore.

«Yue-sama» Ru's voice calls him and only in that moment Yue notices him at the entrance of the sacred room where he's supposed to perform the ritual  «is there everything else? Do you need anything?»

Yue smiles softly, then shakes his head: «No, I have everything I need. Please, take care of Fang while I do this.»

There is no need for further explanations: Ru and Fang both witnessed how being the Water master of the Wen clan means having the water be a mirror you can't escape from and, most of all, having that mirror reflect the worst part of you; "performing a ritual" is only a soft way to say he will have to evoke every shade of him the water got in the years, allow his ability to give them the shape of a human, his alter ego. And then fight for days, try to not let that alter ego win over him.

Sometimes it's easier than others. Sometimes it gets bad, dangerous; it gets ugly. 

Three years ago, that alter ego was the reason behind the annihilation of a quarter of his clan.

«Yue-sama» Ru gently catches his attention «you were only thirteen years old.» he says, reading his mind - if literally, thanks to his ability, or figuratively Yue doesn't know and doesn't really mind. What surprises him, it's Ru's soft chuckle: «Also, I can assure that in this world there is nothing that would bring Fang to love you and adore you less than he does.»

He knows it's true, and he won't ever be able to show them how grateful he is for having them. Yue smiles at him, shakes his head.

«I know. Now, leave us.»

«As you command.»

Once he closes the door, Yue sighs and focuses on his power: water gushes all around him, slowly takes a form he knows way too well.

«My greetings, myself.» the water figure says, smiling evilly.
